Common Salt is at Norfolk & Norwich Festival this May, being performed at Norwich Castle & Art Gallery twice over two days - 14th & 15th at 6pm.
On May 15th for the first ever time Sue & Sheila will also be doing a Live Feed broadcast of the show too. A chance to see the piece if you can’t get there in person.

Sheila is getting an updated version of On Reflection out and about again over the next few months - her wander with a black mirror.
The piece was first commissioned by Wellcome Collection as part of their On Nature season in July 2017. Back then the walk followed a pre-determined & carefully researched circular route around Bloomsbury. Sheila is now trying the work out with a looser structure, more exploratory & discursive in style.
As before anyone who attends gets to keep their mirror (if they’d like).

Sheila & Sue will be in residence at Somerset Earth Sciences Centre from Monday 8 until Friday 12 April, working on their next collaborative 'show & tell' art-work, Atmospheric Forces - currently imagined as a performance / event which explores atmosphere and the environment in a variety of ways.
The pair will be spending time getting to know the local Quarries represented by the Centre, and spending time with U3A volunteers and local Geology experts.
This is the second of four residencies they are doing in 2024.
Atmospheric Forces was first developed in 2020 with support from University of Reading’s 'Work in Progress’ a joint project between Reading’s Department of Film, Theatre & Television and South Street Arts. This second and final stage of making of the work is funded by Arts Council England.
Sheila is currently exhibiting work-in-process as part of By some means or Other - an exhibition by Loughborough University’s 2024 AA2A artist residents.
The exhibition is on 28 Feb - 22 March, Mon-Fri (12-2) in Loughborough University’s Martin Hall gallery.
Exhibiting artists are: Courtney Askey, Emily Driver, Grime, Sophie Goodchild and Sheila.

Sheila & Sue will be in residence at UAL: Wimbledon (AG07) from Monday 12 until Thursday 15 February, working on their next collaborative 'show & tell' art-work, Atmospheric Forces - currently imagined as a performance / event which explores atmosphere and the environment in a variety of ways.
The pair will be trying out their ideas in practice, and researching and developing this new work.
This is the first of four residencies they are doing in 2024.

There will be two seated performances at:
2pm and 6pm
Running time is 65 minutes. There will be time after the show for informal conversation. In order to make these performances as affordable as possible to those that want to attend, there is a choice of ticket prices.
Recommended price (adult ticket) - a standard ticket reflecting the normal charge for an event like this.
Concession price (concession ticket) - designed to allow everyone access to the show. If you cannot pay the adult ticket at this time, this ticket type is for you. You do not need to explain or prove why you need to access this lower price. It's there if you need it.
Minimum age 12yrs+.
Sheila is part of the Modern Painters, New Decorators annual Members Exhibition, showcasing recent work by studio holders and associates, encompassing painting, print, sculpture and installation.
MPND members are all practising artists with a tie to Loughborough and are made up of students and emerging, established and self-taught artists.
The 2023 Members Exhibition celebrates works in process and display artworks, materials and references in unconventional forms - it is a space for testing ideas and learning about the connection between process and display. The exhibition is titled ‘Everything Equals Experiment’, inspired by Corita Kent’s ‘Ten Rules’.

An artist's guide to working with others in research and performance
Location: D01/02 (MA Performance Studio), Wimbledon College of Arts
Join artists Sheila Ghelani and Sue Palmer as they share a particular route map for conducting co-research in performance, with creative approaches to collaborative research and making in public, community and institutional contexts. Presented as an artistic visual guide, the session will be a combination of presentation by the artists and involvement in thinking-through and questioning.

Note: This session follows on from the one-day symposium, 'Small Acts: Performance as co-research' held at Wimbledon College of Arts on 27 June 2023, and is aimed at postgraduate researchers and their supervisors.

Sheila is really happy to be one of five AA2A artists in residence this year, at Loughborough University, within the School of Design and Creative Arts.
The residencies provide practitioners with the chance to undertake research or work on a project using the University’s workshops and supporting facilities for up to 100 hours. It also benefits students through their interaction with practicing Creatives during their studies.
The School proudly boasts a range of facilities and equipment suitable to support printmaking, ceramics, digital media, performance, photography, painting, plus many more fine art practices.

Our regular talk night returns. How do artists build connections? Join us for an evening of talks by creatives from the East Midlands. At Show & Tell, we'll hear from Mateus Domingos, the artist behind 'Carrier Bag Fictions', an exhibition questioning technology and exploring collective production and protest. Our second speaker is Sheila Ghelani. Sheila is a studio holder at Modern Painters, New Decorators. Since 1995 her care 'full' practice has been cross-pollinating ideas, materials, people and places.
